Kyon has 3 companions
- Mikuru who is a Time Agent
- Koizumi who is a Carrionite
- Nagato who is a... renegade Mondasian Cyberman (Cybertimelord?) in a parallel universe in which their kind are the ones who first discovered the secrets of Time and Space(???)
From what it looks like, his regenerations tend to be younger as time passes by (though not always, like in the 5th-6th's case). Kyon is probably beyond the 13th, but close to that. The TARDIS looks like a schoolgirl because one of The Doctor's companions finally convinced him to fix the Chameleon Circuit.
Somewhere in 21st century Japan, The Doctor got separated from the TARDIS. She lost her memories and The Doctor and his companions disguised themselves as students so as to not create a time paradox before he could safely restore the TARDIS's memory. Haruhi's reality bending powers is actually a manifestation of the TARDIS's space-time capabilities; of course she doesn't know she's a TARDIS.
This kind of contradicts the Kyon-Is-Actually-The-Reality-Bender theory.
The pilot episode began with Kyon wishing that all the exotic people Haruhi seeks were real. He's too practical for that, so he wished for someone like Haruhi, who then appeared—with an appropriate back history—in his homeroom class. Thus, Haruhi was the first one to gravitate to Kyon, followed by all the others.
Koizumi and Nagato both told Kyon that he was a normal human, but then they didn't tell Haruhi about her powers, either. Also remember the anthropic principle that Koizumi and Kyon discussed in the cab. (That makes "a normal human" god.)
All the others readily confided in Kyon. And Nagato took orders from him in "The Day of Sagittarius" even when those orders might potentially set off Haruhi.
"Kyon" is a nickname. We don't know his real name. Many faiths consider it taboo to use god's real name, so there are endless aliases. Like John Smith.
Last, but hardly least, Kyon is the only one who seems to be able to restrain Haruhi, or waken the goddess from her dream with a kiss, back to the "real" world.
I've heard of that theory before, I think it makes a lot of sense, but I hope they never reveal it explicitly -- part of what makes Haruhi so special is all the possibilities and mysteries.
Also thanks for faving.
